Ingrown toenails are toenails that have sharp corners or sides that dig into the skin painfully. This can result in infection. These nails can be the result of improper nail trimming, heredity, infections, shoe pressure, fungus, injuries and similar problems.
Toenails should be trimmed straight across, even with the toe end, using toenail clippers. If your ingrown toenail becomes infected, you should seek medical care immediately. A physician can remove the toenail’s ingrown portion. If the condition is recurring, the toenail may require permanent removal.
If you are having a problem with an ingrown toenail, call our office to schedule an appointment. We can help you get the problem corrected and relieve the pain you are experiencing.
